It’s that time of year again, everyone! Memorial Day is coming up this Monday, May 30th. While I know many of you will be planning cookouts and parties to enjoy the holiday, I would like to invite everyone to remember what this holiday truly signifies. This is a holiday to commemorate our brave soldiers who have fought, or are currently fighting, for our country’s freedom. So while you are raising your glasses in celebration of having off of work for one day, also throw in a thank you for all those who have served, or are currently serving, because most of us do in fact know someone who has served or is serving our country.
In case you weren’t quite sure what to do this weekend, here are some ideas. Annapolis is hosting its annual Patriotic Parade Monday, May 30th. The parade starts at 10 a.m. and follows its traditional route down West and Main streets. Afterwards, enjoy a memorial ceremony on the waterfront at Susan Campbell Park. Also happening over the weekend is the annual MCVET race. Participants can choose to run in either a 5K or 10K race on the Inner Harbor waterfront starting at the War Memorial Plaza on May 29th. Participants can enjoy refreshments, music, and even live auctions after the race. As always, donations will benefit the Maryland Center for Veterans Education and Training. There are also always the many war memorials located in downtown Baltimore and the Inner Harbor to go visit as well. And for those of you who would like a chance to get out of town this weekend, Ocean City will officially be beginning its open season. Head on down to Ocean City to enjoy rides, the boardwalk, and the many shops located on and off of the boardwalk.
For those who were interested in more events, here is a website which includes a list of a few things happening throughout Baltimore, Maryland, some of which I was not even aware of until I read about them. Some of the events seem really interesting, so check it out:
